Broadband and TV Summit with top level representatives from the broadband and media industry; key topics Hybrid TV and analogue Switch Off
ANGA Cable, Europe’s leading Trade Fair for Cable, Broadband and Satellite has released this year’s congress programme at www.angacable.com. Congress and exhibition will take place from 3 - 5 May 2011 in Cologne, Germany. ANGA Cable combines a domestic market of 40 million homes, which is unique in Europe, and a contingent of 43 % international visitors.
The agenda of the congress which is held alongside the trade show, will open with several highlights: The welcome address by Matthias Kurth, President of the Federal Network Agency for Electricity, Gas, Telecommunications, Post and Railways, will be followed by the Broadband Summit titled “Cable, Fiber & LTE – Who Dominates the New Broadband World?”. Confirmed participants of the podium include Gerd Eickers (VATM), Dr. Adrian v. Hammerstein (Kabel Deutschland), Matthias Kurth (Federal Network Agency), Harald Rösch (Kabel BW), Axel Sihn (WISI Communications), and Alf Henryk Wulf (Alcatel-Lucent). At the following TV Summit “TV goes online – Risks and Chances” network operators of the different transmission paths and broadcasters will discuss the challenges resulting from interactive, hybrid and online TV offerings. Participants are Dr. Jürgen Brautmeier (LfM NRW), Prof. Dr. Carl-Eugen Eberle (ZDF), Michael T. Fries (Liberty Global), Dr. Christian P. Illek (Telekom Germany), Ferdinand Kayser (SES ASTRA), Dietmar Schickel (Tele Columbus), Marc Schröder (RTL interactive), as well as Thomas Braun, President of the Association of German Cable Operators (ANGA) as the host of the event. Both summits will be presented by Frank Thomsen (editor-in-chief of stern.de).
Dr. Peter Charissé, Managing Director of ANGA Cable: “In addition to hybrid and online TV, the issue of analogue satellite switch off in April 2012 will feature big at the show and the congress. By spring next year more than 5 million analogue satellite homes will have to be equipped with digital reception devices. Add to that the upgrading of many thousands of cable headends. This has to be arranged for now and at the right time ANGA Cable provides the best market place for manufacturers, trade and network operators. We have already received bookings from more than 380 exhibitors from 34 countries. Due to the many demands for growth we have increased the net floor space by approximately 15 %.”
The 9 strategy panels will deal with, among others, the topics Next Generation Networks, Open Access, analogue switch off, Hybrid TV, interactive TV, 3D TV, Pay TV, Video on Demand, and Smart Home. The agenda of the 10 technology panels lists topics such as hybrid services, DOCSIS 3.0, FTTH business models, Over the Top TV, RF over Glass, Next Generation Headends, IP services, and upgrade scenarios for the analogue satellite switch off.
