Michael has 20-plus years of telecommunications industry experience. He provides leadership to 2,000 employees to deliver a portfolio of innovative business, connectivity, and IP communication solutions/services to businesses across Canada.
Ken has a long history in the networking field. In this current role, he is responsible for helping shape and build the future state of Comcast's network, including LSO, SDN and NFV.
Alessandro was appointed CEO of Telecom Italia Sparkle in December 2014. He previously served as Executive Officer of National Wholesale Services at Telecom Italia since July 2011. A computer scientist with strong business administration expertise, Alessandro has developed a true passion for innovation and technological transformation in his over 25 year career in the field. He started as a researcher in mobile technology to later become a technology strategist, acquiring competences on network services development. Today, he runs a company that strongly leverages innovation to stay ahead as a global leader in the international wholesale market.
Nan Chen, President of the MEF said: “I am thrilled to have Michael lead the Board and Ken and Alessandro to join as they are augmenting our leadership team with invaluable business strategy and technical expertise to guide the MEF towards The Third Network vision and Lifecycle Service Orchestration (LSO) standardization. This ecosystem of expertise and experience on the Board is critical as we enter an exciting new phase characterized by more agile and assured connectivity services that are orchestrated over more automated, interconnected networks.”
Michael Strople, Allstream added: “The work of the MEF is extremely important to the continued growth and dominance of Carrier Ethernet. I am looking forward to being closely and actively involved in building on the success of CE 2.0 to deliver the MEF vision of agile, assured, and orchestrated global connectivity services. As it unfolds, businesses will be quick to appreciate the benefits of improved quality of service, security and more automated Internet services.”
Ken Countway, President, Comcast said: “It is a pleasure to be part of the well-established MEF and help shape the future of networking. I believe the focus for us over the next year or so will be new developments in SDN and NFV, and developing a level of standardization – particularly defining LSO capabilities – that will change the way we think of networking moving forward. It will be a large effort but we can make it happen through the cooperation of our strong team of MEF members.”
Alessandro Talotta, CEO of Telecom Italia Sparkle said: “The MEF has critical work ahead defining LSO capabilities to overcome today’s operational support system (OSS) challenges and bridge the gap to future SDN and NFV enhanced networks necessary to achieve the Third Network vision.
