MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum) announced the results of the Board of Directors Elections held at its recent Annual Members Meeting in Montreal.  Nan Chen, Executive Vice Chairman of CENX, continues as President of MEF and Ihab Tarazi, Verizon’s Vice President of Enterprise Network Products, was re-appointed as Chairman of the MEF.
“This has been a great year for CE 2.0 and the MEF,” said MEF President Nan Chen. “CE 2.0 is experiencing global uptake, the 2.0 Certification program is off to a great start and we are closing in on 1000 MEF-CECPs – a resounding success. With the recent launch of the Service Operations Committee and our new partnership with the CloudEthernet Forum, we are well positioned to extend the dominance of Carrier Ethernet to the Cloud, SDN and mobile networks.  Membership now stands at over 215 companies and continues to spread globally, with emerging markets playing an increasingly significant role in the globalization of Carrier Ethernet.”

The full list of the MEF Board of Directors elected is:

Ihab Tarazi concludes: “The work of the MEF has huge significance for the global economy. Service providers and equipment vendors who adopt MEF standards are creating a more connected world, enabling new applications and driving international commerce.  The MEF’s work becomes increasingly vital and significant as businesses and consumers increasingly embrace Cloud services and demand the quality, flexibility and cost-effectiveness of Ethernet for their delivery.”
