Digital community converges at CeBIT 2009
Date: Tue, 01/13/2009 - 21:12
Hannover, Germany. From 3 to 8 March 2009. The world's digital community will converge on Hannover for the world's biggest and leading IT and telecommunications exhibition
The scope of exhibits at CeBIT 2009 covers the gamut of ICT offerings - from business software and consumer electronics to scientific scenarios of the future. Numerous products and services will be geared to the two major topics shaping the face of CeBIT and the entire ICT sector: Webciety and green IT.
The official display categories at CeBIT 2009 consist of IT Infrastructure, Business Processes, CeBIT Security World, Communications, Telematics & Navigation, Automotive Solutions and Transport & Logistics, Internet & Mobile Solutions, Consumer Electronics, Public Sector Parc, TeleHealth/eHealth, future parc and Banking & Finance, rounded off by the Planet Reseller special display. The Partner State at CeBIT 2009 is California.
The Internet society - the so-called 'Webciety' - will be a major topic at CeBIT 2009. Whether this involves buzzwords like cloud computing, Enterprise 2.0, open source, blogs, wikis, Web TV or social networks - the Internet is revolutionizing nearly all business processes and can no longer be excluded from any area of global cooperation. In numerous examples across all exhibition sectors as well as at the special 'Webciety Area', CeBIT will reveal how the Internet is increasingly penetrating all aspects of our lives and work, highlighting the solutions that are poised to characterize the Web of the future.
A new CeBIT display sector, 'Internet & Mobile Solutions', has been introduced to reflect the mega-trend towards digitalization and mobility. This sector will be broken down into three subcategories: 'Digital Media Solutions', 'Web-based Solutions' (consisting of new solutions for online marketing and eCommerce) and 'Enterprise Mobility' (showcasing applications for the mobile workplace).
A further CeBIT highlight involves green IT. In 2008 CeBIT launched its own green IT platform, resulting in strong international exposure. At CeBIT 2009 manufacturers and ICT associations will be on hand at the 'Green IT World' to demonstrate how this market has developed and the solutions it offers for dealing with the major economic and ecological challenges of our age.
The category of IT security is also being expanded in 2009. The 'CeBIT Security World' display, will have a new location at CeBIT 2009, combining the full range of security solutions (hardware and software) in a single hall for the first time. The emphasis will be on a holistic presentation of IT security.
ICT in the medical field is also being greatly expanded at CeBIT. The international TeleHealth convention and expo will run for the full six days of CeBIT for the first time next year, with 'People - IT - Health' as its motto. The focus here is on the latest technological solutions and techniques for the health care market from the sectors of telemedicine and health care management as well as the Health Care Project.
At CeBIT 2009 the segment of 'Learning & Knowledge Solutions' will play an even bigger role than in the past. The spotlight here will be on Web 2.0 technologies, with the range of subtopics extending from social software and open content to personalization and game-based learning.
For the first time ever, the PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE convention and expo will be staged under the conceptual umbrella of CeBIT Public Sector Parc. Whereas Public Sector Parc stands for cutting-edge ICT and public administration solutions, the PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE convention and expo is dedicated to solutions involving the planning, financing, construction, maintenance and operation of public infrastructure.
But CeBIT is more than just an ideal platform for displaying solutions - its 'CeBIT Global Conferences' also make it the world's biggest platform for knowledge transfer in the ICT sector. CeBIT Global Conferences feature keynote speeches by the ICT industry's leading minds as well as 'CeBIT Panels' consisting of providers and users from across the globe. The keynotes and panel discussions will focus on the four major subjects of 'ICT and Civil Society', 'Mobile Communication, Media & Entertainment', 'Business 2015' and the 'Webciety'. Guided tours of the show will round out the offerings at the CeBIT Global Conferences.
