CeBIT life: New venue for high-tech enthusiasts

Spotlight on Smart Home, Web & Media, Music, and Games

CeBIT, the world's leading event for the digital industry, will introduce in 2011 CeBIT life, a new meeting platform for professional users and consumer high-tech buffs.  CeBIT life is comprised of four thematic areas - Smart Home, Web & Media, CeBIT sounds!, and CeBIT games - that demonstrate how information and communications technology (ICT) shapes and influences our lives in an increasingly connected world.
"Following the major trend of technology convergence, we now see industries and markets converging at an ever-increasing rate. New digital business models are emerging at the intersection of content and technology as well as from those industries involved in the intelligent home," explains Frank Pörschmann, Senior Vice President at CeBIT organizer Deutsche Messe AG.  "With CeBIT life we are addressing the well-informed high-tech consumer who is an active market participant, accelerates trends, and is already a vital component in the supply chain. CeBIT life will promote interaction and discussion between companies and consumers and bring technology to life," says Pörschmann.
New at CeBIT is "Smart Home", which covers the entire scope of home networking and spotlights such topics as security, energy efficiency, convenience, and entertainment. Smart Home will address all market participants, including manufacturers, service providers, utilities, retailers, installers, and consumers.
"Web & Media" is devoted to changing media usage patterns and focuses on such trends as mobile software applications, or "apps" for short. A special AppZone, which consists of an exhibition plus conference, will showcase market players and developers of apps for smartphones and tablet PCs.
"CeBIT sounds!" brings together the music and IT industries. Following its successful launch in 2010, this innovative, interdisciplinary music exhibition will feature an expanded concept in 2011.  In addition to many musical highlights, visitors can also expect an exciting stage program that features discussions and presentations revolving around the topic "IT & Music".
"CeBIT games" will present the latest developments from the world of computer games. The best eAthletes from Europe, Asia and America will compete against each other at the Intel® Extreme Masters competition, the climax being the championship match on Saturday, 5 March 2011.
