“Mobile connectivity is not a luxury good for the elite; it's a necessity for everyone, driving opportunity and growth,” said Baksaas. “Emerging nations can use connectivity to leapfrog developmental stages into an inclusive digital future.”
Taking place on Wednesday, 20 November at 18:00 local time (11:00 UTC) in the Jupiter rooms at IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Centre in Bangkok, Thailand, the Visionary Keynote will be webcast live.
“I am very pleased that industry leaders like Jon Fredrik Baksaas, President and CEO of Telenor, share ITU’s commitment to connect the world,” said ITU Secretary-General Hamadoun I. Touré. “Digital inclusion is more relevant than ever in the rapidly transforming ICT sector, and the perspective of Telenor as both a leading regional player in Asia and a major global operator is of particular interest. I look forward to attending this session which will be moderated by CNN's John Defterios.”
